Land leveling is a common practice in the mid-southern United States to facilitate uniform distribution of irrigation water. However, land leveling often results in decreased productivity. The objective of this study was to determine whether soybean and rice productivity could be predicted from a comprehensive characterization of soil physical, chemical, and biological properties immediately following shallow land leveling.
