Research
We hypothesized that a successful rice cropping system is possible using sprinkler irrigation on soils that do not retain flood water. As part of a larger research effort to help farmers increase water use efficiency and cut energy costs, an experiment with rice cultivars and hybrids was conducted to evaluate total N rates with different amounts of N broadcast as urea at V4 growth stage and N applied in five weekly UAN applications. The objective was to determine the effects of N management on yield and milling of sprinkler irrigated rice.
