Research

In the southeastern U.S., few warm-season legumes grow rapidly, have high nutritional value, and tolerate high rainfall and temporary waterlogging. Soybean and cowpea are two warm-season legumes that are fairly well adapted to growing conditions in the southeastern U.S., however little is known about their production under high moisture and high temperature conditions. This study examined the feasibility of growing soybean and cowpea and their nutritional value under specific stress conditions common in subtropical environments.
