A Proposed Method for Stress Analysis and Yield Prediction in Soybean Using Light Interception and Developmental Timing

Research
Analyses of stress problems affecting soybean production would be improved if simple, rapid, easy, and cheap methods were developed for monitoring seasonal crop growth patterns. Although previous studies have established total dry matter at R1 [TDM(R1)] and TDM(R5) criteria for optimal yield, determination of these parameters in commercial soybean fields by conventional destructive methods is not practical. The objectives of the current study were to determine and validate simple regression models for estimation of TDM(R1) and TDM(R5); and to validate a simple regression model (determined from a previous study) for prediction of yield from TDM(R5).
