Nitrogen Source, Timing, and Rate Alternatives for Furrow-irrigated Sugarbeet

August 2011

Research
Furrow irrigation poses particular challenges for optimizing sugarbeet nitrogen uptake. The purpose of this research was to evaluate six N sources available to sugarbeet producers, including three dry products (urea and two enhanced-efficiency urea products) and three fluid products. Products were evaluated at two application timings (split preplant and side dress, and all preplant) and two rates (typical grower rate and soil-test-based rate).
