Prevathon is a relatively new insecticide for managing Lepidopteron pests in cotton such as the cotton bollworm. Since its introduction, there has been a perception that this product may have “plant health” benefits resulting in enhanced yield beyond insect control. This presentation will demonstrate that under high bollworm pressure, dual-gene cotton can benefit from insecticide oversprays, but under moderate to low bollworm pressure oversprays are generally not beneficial. Yield enhancement from Prevathon appears to be from insect control and not “plant health” benefits.
