Methionine-Riboflavin and Potassium Bicarbonate-Polymer Sprays Control Apple Flyspeck and Sooty Blotch

Fig. 4. Effect of treatments on flyspeck incidence and sooty blotch severity on Prima, Freedom, and Jonafree apples at Gays Mills, WI, 1999. MR = methionine-riboflavin formulation. KHCO3 = potassium bicarbonate. Flyspeck was rated as present or absent. Sooty blotch was rated on a 0 to 3 scale, where 0 = no disease; 1 = trace (< 1% fruit surface affected); 2 = 1 to 5% fruit surface affected; 3 = > 5% fruit surface affected. Thirty fruit were evaluated from each of six replicates. Bars with the same letter (lowercase for flyspeck, uppercase for sooty blotch) are not significantly different according to Fisher’s Least Significant Difference (LSD) test (P = 0.05).
