Research
Farmers often use resources such as National Research Council (NRC) requirements for beef cattle to guide decision-making about which feedstuffs and amounts to use as supplements for animals consuming low-quality forages, but in some cases these resources fail to accurately predict forage intake when grasses like bermudagrass are fed with various supplements. The goal of this study was to test the accuracy of the Beef Cattle NRC intake predictions when animals fed low-quality forages received corn or soybean hulls as energy supplements.
