Golf Course Operations

Edison College is southwest Florida's community college. The Golf Course Operations Program at Edison College supports the Plant Management Network. This two-year program is designed to prepare students to become golf course superintendents. The core classes within this 69 credit hour Associate in Science Degree program are structured to help the turfgrass student establish and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base with respect to all golf course related turfgrass management issues, including turfgrass science, soil science, irrigation, and pest management. Courses in these disciplines help the student to gain a high degree of proficiency in the language and operations of the turfgrass/golf course industry. All classes are offered during evening hours to accommodate full-time work schedules. Students at Edison College may also pursue the 60 credit hour Associates in Arts Degree with an emphasis in Golf Course Operations. Through a cooperative agreement between Edison College and the University of Florida, golf course operations students who complete this AA degree will be granted admission into the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Florida to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Turfgrass Science.
