The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station, and UK
Cooperative Extension Service have been providing results to farmers and rural residents for more
than 130 years. The College also addresses problems of agribusiness, consumers, international trade,
food processing, nutrition, community development, soil and water resources, and the environment. More
than ever, UK people and programs are focused on issues that matter to Kentucky, including being
competitive in domestic and world markets. Research activities encompass new economic opportunities
for Kentucky communities; survival of the family farm; sustainable use of soil, water, and forest
resources; food safety and quality; merchandising; family studies; and new technologies.
