Infection of Grape Berry and Rachis Tissues by Phomopsis viticola

2 July 2002

Studies were conducted to determine if Phomopsis viticola can infect grape berries directly and cause latent infections, or if fruit infection occurs via mycelial invasion from infected rachis tissues. Direct infection of berries can result in latent infections on green fruit. The fungus may invade berries via infected rachis tissues, but rachis infection is not required for Phomopsis fruit rot development.
