Trionymus haancheni McKenzie: A New Pest of Barley in Idaho

A new insect pest of barley, sometimes referred to as the Haanchen barley mealybug, was discovered for the first time in Idaho near Soda Springs during June 2003 in a commercial barley field. This report is the first documented detection of T. haancheni in Idaho. It summarizes what is known about T. haancheni from the published literature, field surveys in Idaho, and laboratory observations.
