January 2009

Although insecticides can be used to manage chinch bugs, genetic resistance in pearl millet to chinch bug may be a more cost-effective strategy. Resistance has been identified in some pearl millets; however, all evaluations to date have been conducted on a limited, local scale. The objective of these experiments was to evaluate pearl millet germplasm for chinch bug resistance in both temperate and subtropical environments.
