March 2012

Research

The objective of this study was to determine whether infection of soybean in the field occurred early in the growing season and whether there was an extended latent infection period. We monitored the development of the rust pathogen using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), a technique used to quantify DNA and hence provide a quantitative assessment of the pathogen in leaf tissue.
