There is a need for more efficient and reliable screening of maize genotypes. An alternative assay using an assessment of seedling infection could greatly facilitate selection of resistant genotypes by providing more rapid and consistent results without the risk of unintentional pathogen spread in the field. This study’s objective was to evaluate a previously developed seedling assay for use in testing maize genotypes for resistance to S. reiliana in a laboratory bioassay.
