Managing Resistance of Venturia inaequalis to the Strobilurin Fungicides

Over the past thirty years, fungicide resistance has been cited as the cause of large-scale crop losses due to apple scab in a number of commercial orchards in the Northeast. The strobilurins represent the most recent class of fungicides for which the threat of resistance exists. In this article we examine the efficacy of strobilurin fungicides at their highest and lowest labeled rates and as a mixture of the lowest labeled rate with a protectant fungicide.
