April 2011

Sclerotinia stem rot (SSR), caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, is endemic to canola (Brassica napus) production areas in North Dakota. Differences in the response of some cultivars or breeding lines have been reported, encouraging further efforts to screen B. napus germplasm for resistance to S. sclerotiorum. The objective of this research was to screen the B. napus accessions of the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System to identify those with resistance to S. sclerotiorum.
