Kansas City, Missouri (April 1, 2007)--PBI/Gordon Corporation has announced that Q4 Turf Herbicide for Grassy and Broadleaf Weed Control is now available in California. Registration was approved on April 4, 2007. This patented formulation contains the protox inhibitor Sulfentrazone + quinclorac + 2,4-D + dicamba.

Q4 was introduced nationwide (with the exception of California and New York) in the spring of 2006 as the newest addition to Gordon’s ProForm® brand which includes SpeedZone®, PowerZone®, SpeedZone® Southern and Surge® herbicides. The Q4 label will feature the distinctive checkered flag design in orange.

“Why use Q4?” asked Doug Obermann, Product Manager for Gordon’s Professional products, “That’s easy -- yellow nutsedge, crabgrass and broadleaf weeds gone – FAST!”

Q4 offers an all-in-one option for yellow nutsedge suppression and grassy and broadleaf weed control in established turfgrass areas. An alternative to MSMA products, Q4 has dramatically reduced phytotoxicity on cool-season grass species. It also offers the enhanced speed of a protox inhibitor, which is a definite fit especially with the golf, lawn care and landscape markets. “When clients see visual results in 24 to 48 hours, it really cuts down call-backs, which are very costly to lawn care, explains Obermann.” Grassy weeds, such as crabgrass and foxtail will turn ghostly pale prior to the reddening which precedes weed death, Obermann continued. Yellow nutsedge suppression is another distinct advantage of the Q4 formulation. And tough broadleaf weed control is a bonus!

“Like Surge, Q4 is ‘energized with sulfentrazone’,” said Obermann. “Users will see a similar response in broadleaf weed control,” Obermann said. “The broadleaf weeds turn brown, dry up and blow away.”

The formulation is designed for use on cool-season turf. Adding 2,4-D and dicamba broadens the weed control spectrum and adds systemic activity to the contact activity of sulfentrazone for multiple modes of action.
