Posted 29 January 2009. Applied Turfgrass Science. Phoenix Environmental Care LLC Adds Starfighter Herbicide to Product Line Phoenix Environmental Care LLC. Valdosta, Georgia (January 15, 2009)--Starfighter™ herbicide is the latest addition to the expanding line of products from Phoenix Environmental Care LLC. “Starfighter is a pre-emergent herbicide that controls a wide variety of both grassy and broadleaf weeds,” says Rick Grant, Director of Business Development for Phoenix Environmental Care LLC. Controlled weeds include crabgrass, goosegrass, field sandbur, annual sedge, annual bluegrass, Virginia buttonweed, pigweed, Florida pusley, oxalis, stinging nettle, and carpetgrass. “Starfighter contains the active ingredient oxidiazon and will be available in both a 3.17 pound flowable and a 2-percent granule formulation,” says Grant. “Superintendents will appreciate that this product can be used in dormant turf as well as in commercial landscape plantings and nursery sites.” Starfighter controls weeds through their shoots rather than their roots, so it won't harm turfgrass roots in the process. Starfighter can be used for long residual pre-emergent weed control even in areas that may need to be sprigged, or where turfgrass roots are already weakened due to pest, mechanical or other damage. In addition, Starfighter can be tank-mixed with other PEC products like RedWing™, Avocet®, Avocet PLX, Harrier®, and Knighthawk® in order to broaden the weed spectrum and lengthen control. Starfighter will be packaged in 2-by-2.5 gallon containers and in 50lb bags. The product will be available in late January, 2009. Phoenix Environmental Care LLC specializes in turf, nursery, ornamental and aquatic products. Starfighter is a trademark of Phoenix Environmental Care LLC. Always read and follow label directions. |
