SDSU Extension Extra 8055-06, “2006 South Dakota Flax Variety Evaluations,” is available online at this link: agbiopubs.sdstate.edu. Or ask at your county Extension office. SDSU Extension Oilseeds Specialist Kathleen Grady and senior ag research technician Lee Gilbertson wrote the publication. It contains tables comparing one- and three-year average flax yields by variety at several locations in South Dakota, and showing how varieties compare in characteristics. The publication briefly discusses yield, oil content, maturity, seed availability and quality, and the testing procedures used in the SDSU variety trials. Consult the publication for more details.
