Revised Label for PowerFlex Herbicide Provides More Rotational Flexibility Source: Dow AgroSciences Press Release. www.dowagro.com Indianapolis, Indiana (November 12, 2009)--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has accepted an amended label for PowerFlex® herbicide that now provides growers with greater rotational flexibility, plus the option to rotate to camelina.
Introduced in 2008, PowerFlex provides cross-spectrum postemergence control of tough grasses and important broadleaf weeds in winter wheat. Users of PowerFlex already enjoy greater crop rotation flexibility compared with most other winter wheat herbicides. However, the amended label provides growers in specific areas of the United States with additional rotational flexibility of three months when rotating from wheat to soybeans or cotton. Additionally, camelina growers now can control broadleaf and grass weeds in their wheat with PowerFlex, then rotate to camelina after nine months. Growers are encouraged to check the product label for PowerFlex for a complete listing of the 26 crops that can be grown in as few as nine months following an application of PowerFlex. “As growers maximize per-acre returns and evaluate double-cropping options, rotational flexibility becomes more and more important,” says Jim Parker, senior marketing specialist for Dow AgroSciences. “In addition to the new three-month rotation on soybeans and cotton, PowerFlex also offers short nine-month rotations for sorghum, corn and other crops.” ®Trademark of Dow AgroSciences LLC PowerFlex is not registered for sale or use in all states.
