Posted 29 May 2012. Crop Management. Growers Can Maximize Their Micronutrient Efficiency With Wolf Trax DDP Micronutrients Source: Wolf Trax Press Release. www.wolftrax.com Winnipeg, Manitoba (May 1,2012)--The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service encourages farmers to adopt the 4Rs of nutrient stewardship – Right source, Right place, Right rate, Right time – for the 2012 growing season. While these principles were developed by the Fertilizer Institute over concern for nutrient waste and loss in key macronutrients – nitrogen and phosphorus – growers can align their micronutrient applications with the 4Rs, too, when they use DDP® Micronutrients from Wolf Trax.
“Reducing fertilizer waste means the crop is utilizing more of what growers apply and less is being lost to soil tie-up or the environment,” says Kerry Green, Wolf Trax managing director. “DDP Micronutrients are unique in meeting the standards of all 4Rs. When growers maximize their nutrient investment through improved efficiency, they save on input costs. Plus, minimizing agriculture’s environmental footprint is the responsible and professional thing to do.” Right source The right source means matching the right fertilizer product for the field’s soil and crop. DDP Micronutrients are both physically and chemically formulated to enhance plant availability and avoid soil tie-up. Formulated as a dry dispersible powder, DDP Micronutrients can coat dry fertilizer, be added to liquid fertilizer or be mixed in a foliar spray. All DDP products are manufactured with strict quality control standards, using feed-grade ingredients. These standards result in high-analysis products with very low heavy metals, which means that fewer contaminants are applied to the soil with the micronutrient application. When a soil or tissue test calls for more than one micronutrient, multiple DDP Micronutrients will adhere to the dry fertilizer or mix in liquid. This flexibility helps ensure that the right nutrients are applied to each field. There are six DDP Micronutrients: Boron DDP, Calcium DDP, Copper DDP, Iron DDP, Manganese DDP and Zinc DDP. Right place The right place means placing and keeping nutrients where the crop can reach them. This principle has been a historical challenge for granular micronutrients due to their sparse distribution throughout a field. However, the unique fertilizer-coating properties of DDP Micronutrients ensure a small amount of micronutrient is delivered along with each and every granule of N, P or K, where plant roots have guaranteed access to the micronutrient. Right rate To achieve the right rate, Wolf Trax recommends soil and tissue testing. Today’s crops with better genetics can utilize nutrients better, so nutrient levels in the soil may be changing. Every field is different. Fertilizer rates should reflect and respect fields’ differences. With DDP Micronutrients, better placement (on every N, P and K granule) and a patented formulation for enhanced plant availability mean growers can apply lower rates – the right rates based on what crops need. Right time The right time means synchronizing nutrient availability with crop demand. DDP Micronutrients have the proprietary Dual Action™ Formulation, which provides immediate availability for plant uptake, along with extended feeding over time. Whether DDP Micronutrients are incorporated into a dry fertilizer, liquid fertilizer or foliar application, the micronutrients will be available when the plant needs them. Growers interested in more efficient and effective micronutrient applications should speak with their agronomist and fertilizer retailer. Contact: |
