DuPont Introduces Cinch® Pre-Emergence Corn Herbicides New Pre-emergence Grass and Broadleaf Products Offer Season-Long Control of a Broad-Spectrum of Weeds DuPont. www.dupont.com. Des Moines, IA (October 8, 2002) - DuPont Crop Protection is introducing three formulations of a new pre-emergence grass and broadleaf herbicide that will offer season-long residual control of a broad range of weeds. DuPont™ Cinch® herbicide, DuPont™ Cinch® ATZ herbicide and DuPont™ Cinch® ATZ Lite herbicide are now federally registered for 2003 spring application. "The Cinch® family of herbicides is a strong addition to the DuPont Crop Protection portfolio," says Kevin Diehl, DuPont corn crop protection marketing manager. "Producers will have another solid choice in proven pre-emergence herbicides that offer the broad-spectrum control they demand when dealing with grasses and small-seeded broadleaf weeds." Cinch is a selective herbicide containing s-metolachlor as the active ingredient and benoxacor as a crop safener. The product offers outstanding season-long grass control of most annual grasses including barnyardgrass, foxtails, crabgrass and fall panicum, in addition to small-seeded broadleaf weeds such as tall waterhemp, pigweed and eastern black nightshade. Cinch provides a wide application window and can be applied pre-plant, pre-plant incorporated, pre-emergence or early post-emergence in all corn and some sorghum* programs. It also can be tank mixed with registered tank-mix partners according to label directions. Cinch ATZ, s-metolachlor plus atrazine at 3.1 lbs. per gallon is also appropriate for corn and sorghum* programs. One-pass or two, it gets the crop off to a good, clean start. Cinch ATZ can be applied pre-plant, pre-plant incorporated, pre-emergence or early post-emergence. For the best results and most consistent corn weed control, apply a reduced rate at or before planting and follow with a post-emergence application of DuPont™ Steadfast® herbicide, DuPont™ Basis Gold® herbicide or DuPont™ Accent® herbicide. It also can be tank mixed with burndown herbicides to save an application trip on no-till acres. Cinch ATZ controls many grass and broadleaf weeds such as foxtail, barnyardgrass, pigweed, cocklebur and velvetleaf. Cinch ATZ Lite, s-metolachlor plus atrazine at the reduced rate of 2.67 lbs. per gallon, targets a wide variety of grasses and broadleaf weeds. It also offers a wide application window and can be a complete one-pass herbicide solution. "Each of these products offers excellent selectivity and crop safety, thanks to the use of the benoxacor safener," says Diehl.
