Job Title: Assistant Professor-Agronomist

Description: The Klamath Basin Research & Extension Center (KBREC) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor position that will serve the Klamath Basin region as a Cropping Systems Agronomist at the Klamath Basin Research & Extension Center (KBREC) in Klamath Falls, OR. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership for the Klamath Basin through research projects related to traditional agronomic field crops. This would include grains, legumes, oilseed, forage, industrial, and new or alternative crops that may be suited to the region. In addition, this position will interact with clientele and community members on issues involving soils, irrigation water, and other agricultural/environmental interactions. Qualifications: Ph.D. Agronomy, Soil Science, or related field. Demonstrated applied research experience relating to agronomic and cropping systems. Demonstrated knowledge of irrigated and non-irrigated cropping systems and water use efficiency. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member with other professionals and volunteers. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion. Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon pesticide applicatorsí consultant license within six months of employment and maintain it throughout employment. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driverís license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
