Des Moines, Iowa (April 22, 2008)--Corn silage management tips, livestock nutrition information, silage additives and alfalfa hybrid selection are among the valuable updates on cutting-edge topics featured in upcoming Pioneer Forage Forum podcasts and blogs. Originated by Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, these segments provide information from dairy feed studies at the Pioneer Livestock Nutrition Center, as well as from university research.

In the months to come, topics include choosing the right alfalfa traits, the biology of hay, moldy silage, nutrition and heat stress and others. The spring introductory segment comes from Dr. Bill Mahanna, coordinator of global nutritional sciences for Pioneer.

“No other seed company has the range and depth in forage research and nutritional information,” says Mahanna. “Not only does Pioneer have trained experts throughout North America who work with dairymen in their operations, but the company has a network of researchers around the globe who exchange information on the latest nutritional information on issues that matter today. The Pioneer Forage Forum is an opportunity to share technical forage expertise.”

Pioneer Forage Forum segments are presented as audio files, each approximately three minutes long. Blogs and podcasts can be accessed at www.worlddairydiary.com, where fresh topics are posted every two weeks. In addition, registered Pioneer customers can hear these audio files and send e-mail responses on Pioneer GrowingPoint® website by clicking on “Livestock Nutrition.” The podcast is found under the header Pioneer Forage Forum by clicking on Forage Blog.

Both sites also archive the original 28 segments of Pioneer Forage Forum. Previous segments cover subjects related to silage harvesting and processing, crop value, and analysis and planning.

Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is the world’s leading source of customized solutions for farmers, livestock producers and grain and oilseed processors. With headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, Pioneer provides access to advanced plant genetics in nearly 70 countries.
