Syngenta Launches CruiserMaxx™ Potato Seed Treatment

The Convenience of Two Active Ingredients Complete with a Built-in Drying Agent

Syngenta Crop Protection.

Greensboro, North Carolina (August 29, 2006) – CruiserMaxx™ Potato seed treatment insecticide and fungicide has received federal approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). CruiserMaxx Potato, the only all-liquid insecticide and fungicide seed treatment available, provides growers with three products in one: Cruiser® seed treatment insecticide, for broad spectrum protection against sucking and chewing insect pests; Maxim® 4FS seed treatment fungicide for protection against major seed- and soil-borne fungal disease pathogens; and a built-in drying agent that aides in the suberization and drying of the seed surface.

CruiserMaxx Potato combines two active ingredients, thiamethoxam (Cruiser) and fludioxonil (Maxim 4FS), along with the exclusive drying agent, making it a more convenient and effective seed treatment option for long-lasting protection. Additional benefits include a lower viscosity and freezing point for improved handling in cold regions, an all-liquid formulation that creates a more uniform coating of tubers, and very quick drying time for improved suberization after application.

“Ever since Syngenta released Cruiser, growers have been applying Cruiser and Maxim together with great results,” said Kiran Shetty, Syngenta Crop Protection Seed Treatment Manager. “For added convenience, Syngenta has combined the two products into one easy-to-use liquid product and has included an exclusive drying agent that enables tubers to dry up to five times faster. That can save growers time before planting and money at harvest.”

CruiserMaxx Potato is registered for protection against certain chewing and sucking insects through contact and ingestion, including green peach aphids, Colorado potato beetles, flea beetles, leafhoppers, psyllids and whiteflies. CuiserMaxx is also registered for protection against damage from certain soil-borne and seed-borne diseases of crop plants, including Fusarium dry rot seed decay, seed-borne Rhizoctonia that causes stem canker and tuber black scurf, and seed-borne Helminthosporium solani – the causal agent of silver scurf diseases on potato tubers. Please consult the product label for a complete list of pests and diseases, and with respective State Departments of Agriculture regarding state registration.
