Monheim, Germany (March 31, 2010)--Bayer CropScience is expanding its comprehensive internet-based information and service offering. www.compendium.bayercropscience.com will go online today, providing information for scientists, students at agricultural colleges and universities, farmers and advisors all over the world. The English-language crop compendium will contain wide-ranging information on major crops – such as areas under cultivation and production volumes – and their natural enemies. Animal pests, plant diseases caused by fungi, and weeds will all be featured. The resource covers their biology and the economic damage they cause. Illustrations help users to identify pests, weeds and diseases reliably. The modern multimedia resource is rounded out by a video platform. The crop compendium currently contains information on wheat, rice, corn, citrus fruit, grapes and cotton.
A user-friendly search function makes it easy for visitors to find the information they need on the new internet site. The knowledge platform also provides links to other online resources such as Bayer's "research" magazine and the Bayer CropScience publications "AgroCourier" and "Bayer CropScience Journal".
The crop compendium combines an overview of the crop protection products supplied by Bayer CropScience – herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, seed dressings and growth regulators – with specific recommendations on which active ingredients to use for which problem, thus providing farmers and advisors with sustainable approaches to managing crops. These recommendations contain detailed information on the chemical and physical properties of the active ingredients, their mechanisms of action, registration status and much more.
Links direct visitors to the internet presence of Bayer CropScience organizations in various countries. These sites provide information on the products and indications registered in accordance with national crop protection legislation. The company also provides distributors with extensive advice and service backup in many countries.
