Walnut Creek, California (November 17, 2010)--Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that Presidio® Fungicide has been registered for use in New York on brassica, cucurbits, grapes and fruiting, bulb, leafy and root vegetable crops (except potato, carrot and sugar beet).

Presidio provides New York growers with a much-needed and powerful new tool for tough diseases such as downy mildew in grapes and cucurbits, and Phytophthora blight. Featuring a fast-acting, targeted chemistry and a new mode of action, Presidio offers wide application timing flexibility and plays an important role in resistance management.

"Presidio is a crucial component of disease management for cucurbit downy mildew, and New York growers have been waiting a long time for it to become available," said Gerald Holmes, Valent product development manager. "Both cucurbit downy mildew and Phytophthora blight are very difficult to control, and Presidio provides unsurpassed control of both diseases."

Unlike many other fungicides, Presidio has no known tank mix limitations with other fungicides or insecticides. Presidio can be applied via sprinkler or used as a foliar treatment. For resistance management, Presidio must be tank mixed with another fungicide active on the pathogen targeted.
