Elkhart, Indiana (May 10, 2013)--Agdia's AmplifyRP testing platform uses a patented isothermal amplification technology, Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA), which enables highly specific and sensitive DNA or RNA analysis of plant pathogens in any type of testing enviroment.


AmplifyRP technology achieves the sensitivity and specificity of PCR based testing methods, but has some clear advantages. Unlike PCR, AmplifyRP testing formats do not require thermal cycling. The entire process is completed at a single operating temperature (39C) using a portable hot block or fluorometer. Additionally, AmplifyRP does not require a DNA or RNA purification step. Crude sample extracts can be prepared using a simple extraction buffer and can be tested directly. This makes the testing process very simple and saves the end user valuable time.

Multiple formats available

AmplifyRP will be available in two formats, Acceler8 and illumin8.

In the case of both formats, sample extraction and amplification is completed in 20 minutes or less.

The Acceler8 format employs a special detection device that we call an amplicon detection chamber. Results are read visually on a lateral flow strip that is housed within the detection chamber. This chamber is also designed to prevent amplicons from escaping and contaminating future assays.

The illumin8 format utlizes a portable fluorometer and provides a real-time fluorescent read out of results (much like real-time PCR).
