East Hartford, Connecticut (May 14, 2013)--BioSafe Systems’ StorOx 2.0 is a versatile post harvest tool that extends shelf life and reduces spoilage of stored crops. In two recent (separate) research studies, StorOx 2.0 was found to be effective as a surface disinfectant against two common potato pathogens; Clavibacter michiganense subsp. sepedonicus (Bacterial Ring Rot) and Pectobacterium carotovorum var. carotovora (Bacterial Soft Rot).

In the first study, conducted as part of GLP–AOAC disinfectant test, StorOx 2.0 was proven to work well as a sanitizer/disinfectant against Bacterial Ring Rot in potatoes. After treatment with StorOx 2.0, the pathogen was no longer present on the test carriers.

The second study, done at Montanta State University, evaluated the effectiveness of StorOx 2.0 as a surface disinfectant against the soft rot pathogen on different surfaces. Compared to other disinfectants, StorOx 2.0 immediately reduced the population of soft rot pathogen on test surfaces.
