Phoenix™ Herbicide Controls Tough Weeds, Provides Crop Safety for Soybean Growers

(Walnut Creek, California, November 9, 2001)  Soybean growers will rest easier once they get new Phoenix™ Herbicide to work for them. The product, approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, gives farmers control of tough weeds like waterhemp, pigweed, nightshade and even ALS-resistant weeds. At the same time, Phoenix provides excellent crop safety.

Phoenix, marketed by Valent U.S.A. Corporation, has the power to control Palmer amaranth, jimsonweed, common ragweed and other tough weeds that will eat away at yields. When tank-mixed with Select® 2 EC Herbicide, Phoenix can control almost any troublesome broadleaf or grass weed that soybean crops face.

“It has no crop rotational restrictions, and there are no carryover issues with this product,” said Shin Shojima, Valent market segment manager.

While some herbicides won’t allow you to make an application after the blooming stage, Phoenix allows you a much wider window of application. The product can be sprayed, even after soybean bloom. And, soybeans are safe when protected by Phoenix; the product is gentle on crops.

“It protects yield potential in soybeans,” said Kevin Perry, Valent product development manager. “It’s easy on your soybean crops.”
